Persecution of Christians

Intro: If you could travel in time, what time would you visit and why?

Study

  1. Mt 24:9-13, Mark 13:9-11 Jesus told us that one major sign that the end is near would be a world wide increased persecution of Christians.
    1. Luke 21:8-10 As we discussed in the first lesson, there will be many other signs that occur on earth telling us the end is near.
      1. Luke 21:11-13 The bible says that even before many of the major signs begin to happen, Christians will increasingly face persecution.
      2. 1 Tim 4:1-2, Rom 1:32 Some of the increased persecution will be public acceptance of sins forbidden in the Bible.
    2. John 16:1-5, Rev 6:9 Other types of persecution will be beatings, imprisonment, and even Christians killed for their faith.
  2. Matt 24:14. Mark 13:10 The Bible tells us that before the end comes, the Gospel will be preached to all nations and people groups on earth.
    1. 2 Tim 4:3-5 The closer we come to all nations hearing the Gospel, the more satan will fight against Christians and evangelism.
      1. 2 Thess 2:15 As persecution against the standards of Gods word increase, we must not compromise, but stand firm.
      2. Rev 2:10 We also need to preach salvation through Christ boldly, never denying Christ even if it costs us our very lives.
    2. Luke 21:15-19 As persecution increases, the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit will increase, so we are equipped to obey Gods call.

Discussion

  1. Have you ever faced persecution for your faith in Christ? if so what happened?
  2. Do you feel that persecution against Christians is increasing around the world today? give examples of how and where?
  3. What are some of the types of persecutions this generation of younger Christians are facing today?
  4. How can we stand firm in holding to biblical standards and sharing our faith in the midst of persecution?

End: Pray for any who haven’t stood strong, and any who are facing persecution for their faith, then pray for requests.
