“Empowered” Lesson #4

“ Empowered to stand for what is right!“

Intro:  What is something you really want to do for Christmas this year?

                                                             Study

  1. Isaiah 48:16, Acts 1:8 God has called us to live a life empowered by the Holy Spirit so that we can reach the lost, be victorious, and able to accomplish His purposes here in this world.
    1. Mathew 19:26 The Holy Spirit will empower us to accomplish that which seems impossible for us to do in our own strength.
      1. Isaiah 7:9 Often Christian youth and young adults have a hard time standing for what they know is right when they face peer pressure from the unsaved around them.
      2. 1 Cor 15:33 Many Christian youth and young adults are influenced to do wrong because of wrong friendships and wrong dating relationships that they are in.
    2. Acts 5:29 Many Christian youth and young adults are also afraid to speak up for what is right, because they are afraid they will offend their unsaved friends.
  2. John 14:15, Eph 4:30 We as Christians must stand firm for what is right. If we truly love God, then we will demonstrate our love for God by standing firm against the wickedness and evil around us that offends the Holy Spirit.
    1. Mathew 5:14  We are called to stand firm and be a light in this dark world in-front of every person we are around, all the time, and in all situations.
      1. 2 Cor 6:17 We need to be willing to end every wrong friendship and wrong dating relationship with those who influence us to compromise and give into sin.
      2. Ephesians 5:11  We are called to expose the sin and evil that is all around us, we need to speak up for what is right in our schools, at our jobs, in our families, in our neighborhoods, and in our society today!
    2. Acts 26:20, 2 Cor 6:14 To be a Christian means we have a God given responsibility to stand against evil! The Holy Spirit will empower us to stand for what is right! #Empowered!

     Discussion

  1. Why do many Christian youth and young adults find it hard to stand for what is right when they face peer pressure?
  2. Why is it so important that we as Christians stand firm for what is right and confront the evil and wickedness around us?
  3. Can you share a testimony of a time when you stood firm for righteousness, and spoke up against the evil others were doing around you?
  4. Are there currently some wrong relationships in your life that are pulling you away from God and influencing you to do wrong? Are you ready to end those relationships?

End: Pray for those who need to end any wrong relationships, pray for those want to be empowered by the Holy Spirit to stand for what is right. Pray for those who want to accept Jesus or rededicate their lives to Christ, then take requests.
