“ Anointed” Lesson #1

“ What does it mean to be anointed? “

Intro:   Who is someone you know who has been used powerfully by God?

Study

  1. 1 John 2:20, Jer 29:11-13 The Holy Spirit wants to anoint us to accomplish a specific purpose and call that God has for us here in this world!
    1. Eph 4:30 We need to be very careful that we stay away from the sin, compromise, and ungodliness that grieves the Holy Spirit and will push Gods anointing away.
      1. 1 Sam 16:13 To be anointed means that we are chosen by God, empowered, and set apart for a specific purpose.
      2. Mathew 19:26  To be anointed is to receive the supernatural power of God to accomplish the unique call that God has for us here on earth.
    2. Acts 10:38 The greatest example of one who was anointed is Jesus. Jesus who is God was anointed to come into this world to die on the cross for our sins so we could be saved from Hell and go to Heaven. The word “Christ” in Greek is Cristos and means “Anointed”
  2. Isaiah 61:1,1 Cor 1:21-22 Just as God himself was anointed, if we choose to humble ourselves before God, obey His voice, and separate ourselves from the ungodliness around us then the Holy Spirit will also anoint us to accomplish a specific purpose here in this world!
    1. Acts 2:40-41 The Holy Spirit can anoint us to evangelize on the streets and lead people to Jesus, and He can also anoint us to preach to thousands, and lead thousands to Christ,
      1. Mark 16:17-18, Matt 10:1 The Holy Spirit at times can also anoint us to do miracles such as praying for the sick and seeing them be healed.
      2. Ps 91:9-13, Ps 20:6 The Holy Spirit can also anoint us with his divine protection and favor when the devil is trying to attack us to stop us because we are doing Gods will and leading people to Christ.
    2. Exodos 29:7, Ps 45:7 God wants to anoint each one of us to win as many people as we possibly can to Christ here in this world through the gifts that He has given us! We must choose to walk in obedience to God and avoid living in sin so we can live anointed!                                                     #Anointed!

  1. Can you give an example of someone in the Bible who was anointed by God to accomplish a specific purpose in this world? Who is it and what did they do for God?
  2. Have you ever seen someone be anointed by God to do a miracle or accomplish something for God that is completely impossible in our own abilities? If so, what was it?
  3. Why is it absolutely essential that we avoid the sin, compromise, and ungodliness that grieves the Holy Spirit and pushes Gods anointing away?
  4. What are some steps that we can take to protect the anointing of God on our lives so that we can remain firm in our faith and accomplish Gods call here in this world?

 

End: Pray for those who want to be anointed by God to accomplish His purpose for their lives in this world. Pray for any who need to repent of their sins and accept Jesus as their Savior, and then take requests.
