 “ Set apart by God  “

Intro:   Who is someone you know who is doing an awesome work for God?

Study

  1. 1 John 2:20, Jer 29:11-13 The Holy Spirit wants to anoint us to accomplish a specific purpose and call that God has for us here in this world!
    1. Eph 4:30 We need to be very careful that we stay away from the sin, compromise, and ungodliness that grieves the Holy Spirit and will push Gods anointing away.
      1. Acts 13:2-3 To be anointed by God also means that we are set apart by God so that we are able to accomplish the call that He has for us.
      2. Jeremiah 29:11-13 There is a specific purpose that God has for everyone of us, and if we choose to follow God then God will reveal to us what he created us to do.
    2. 2 Cor 6:14 When God calls us to do something for Him, He is setting us apart for that call  and a part of being set apart by God is to separate ourselves from the things of the world.
  2. 2 Cor 6:17, Rom 12:2 When we are anointed and set apart by God then we must also separate ourselves from the sin and compromise that will contaminate us, distract us from our purpose, grieve the Holy Spirit, and pull us away from God!
    1. Hebrews 11:1-8 The Bible is full of examples of people God called, set apart, and anointed to accomplish awesome things for Him.
      1. Mathew 22:14 All of us are called of God for a specific purpose in this world, but only a few actually ever do anything great for God.
      2. Acts 13:22 The reason for this is because very few people actually obey God and are willing to separate themselves from the world.
    2. 1 Sam 16:13, 18:14 If you really want to be used in a great way by God in this world then you need to obey His voice, separate yourself from the sin of the world, and allow Him to prepare you and anoint you for the purpose He has called you to do. #Anointed!

  1. Who has an example of a time when God spoke to you and told you to separate yourself from a sinful environment or relationship that was pulling you away from Him and His call?
  2. What are some of the many reasons God calls us to separate ourselves from the ungodliness and wickedness that is all around us?
  3. What are some of the examples in the Bible of those God set apart and called to do an awesome work for Him?
  4. What are some steps we need to take to separate ourselves from the sin and compromise that will distract us from Gods call, pull us away from God, and offend the Holy Spirit?

End: Pray for those who want to be set apart by God and anointed to accomplish His purpose for their lives in this world. Pray for any who need to repent of their sins and accept Jesus as their Savior, and then take requests.
