“ Anointed” Lesson #3

 “ Do not offend the Holy Spirit! “

Intro:   What is the longest church service you have ever been in? How long was it?

                                                                 Study

  1. 1 John 2:20, Jer 29:11-13 The Holy Spirit wants to anoint us to accomplish a specific purpose and call that God has for us here in this world!
    1. Eph 4:30 We need to be very careful that we stay away from the sin, compromise, and ungodliness that grieves the Holy Spirit and will push Gods anointing away.
      1. Jeremiah 7:23 If we choose to obey God and His standards then the Holy Spirit and His anointing will remain on us, but if we choose to disobey God and allow sin into our lives then the Holy Spirit will be grieved and He will back away from us!
      2. Acts 5:32, Acts 13:22 God gives the Holy Spirit to those who obey him! If we walk in obedience to God, the anointing of the Holy Spirit will always rest on us and will increase as we continue to follow His direction.
    2. Eph 5:11-12, 1 Cor 10:21 God commands us to stay away from sin and wickedness, not only because it will offend the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit will back off from us, but also because sin and wickedness will destroy our lives and send us to hell!
  2. 1 Sam 10:6-7, 1 Sam 11:15  King Saul started off chosen by God and anointed to lead Israel and to do a great work for Him.
    1. 1 Sam 15:22-23, 1 Sam 28:6 However, Saul repeatedly disobeyed God and let sin into his life and because of his disobedience and rebellion the Holy Spirit left him.
      1. 1 Sam 28:15-20  Once the Holy Spirit left Saul, he had no peace, he was no longer successful, his life fell apart, and he ended in total failure and shame.
      2. Eph 4:27  We need to learn from the Biblical examples of Saul and Samson and make sure that we are very careful to stay away from sin, and to never give the devil a foothold.
    2. 1 Peter 1:16, Psalms 24:3-4 In order for us to maintain the anointing of God on our lives, we must obey God with all of our hearts, as well as avoid the sin, compromise, and wickedness that offends the Holy Spirit and pushes Him away! #Anointed!

1.What are some of the many negative results and consequences that take place when people choose to disobey God, live in sin, and offend the Holy Spirit?

2.Why is it so important that we are very careful to guard ourselves against the sin and
wickedness that offends the Holy Spirit and pushes Him away?

3. What are some of the things that we need to do to guard ourselves from offending the Holy Spirit and pushing hIm away?

4. What are some things in your life that are not right that you want to repent of so that you can please God and the anointing of the Holy Spirit can rest on you?

End: Pray for those who want to repent of any sin and compromise in their lives so they can avoid offending the Holy Spirit and be anointed by God to reach the world! Then take requests.
