  “  Conquering Goliath “  

Intro:  What is the greatest victory you have ever had personally in your life? 

Study

 

  1. Romans 8:37, John 3:3-5 When we accept Christ we are born again, we are born into a life of salvation and victory found only in Jesus which allows us to conquer everything in our way. 
    1. Gen 1:27-29  God created us to be victorious and created us to conquer everything that will come at us to try and stop us! We were born to conquer! 
      1. Gen 3:1-4  Mankind in the beginning was created to know God, to be victorious, to conquer, but the devil entered the world with a plan to defeat mankind, steal his identity, separate him from God and to leave him defeated and broken. 
      2. 2 Cor 5:17 Without Christ we will always be defeated, broken, lost, and confused, but when we choose to surrender to Jesus, then God begins to restore his original plan for our lives, we begin to discover our true identity, and the purpose God has for us! 
    2. John 10:10 The devil desires to defeat us, the devil wants to stop us from accepting Christ, if he can’t keep us from getting saved then he will use whatever he can to keep us from discovering our purpose and leading others to Christ! 
  2. 1 Samuel 17:8-11 The devil will send a Goliath to try to stop you, to keep you from serving God and from discovering the purpose God has for you here in this world.
    1. 1 Samuel 17:23-25  Like David the devil will send a Goliath to each of us to try to intimidate us and keep us from fulfilling the plan of God for our lives! 
      1. The Goliath i face may not be the Goliath you face, but all of us will confront some type of a Goliath that will try to get in our way and keep us from fulfilling Gods plan.
      2. Some of you may face a Goliath of fear, insecurity, or depression or of addiction such as drugs or alcohol, while others may face a Goliath of sexual sin that you never seem to be able to defeat! and still for others your Goliath may be a false Identity the devil has tried to put on you such as gangster, homosexual, or gender confusion! 
    2. 1 Peter 5:8-9, Heb 12:1-2  The truth is everyone of us will face some type of a Goliath that will try to defeat us and keep us from discovering Gods awesome plan and purpose for our lives, but if we keep our eyes on Jesus we can conquer every Goliath in our way!

  1. Can someone share an example of a Goliath that used to have control of your life that you have conquered through the power of God? 
  2. What do you feel are some of the main reasons the Devil puts a Goliath in our way to try and stop us?
  3. What are some steps that you think we can take to position ourselves to conquer every Goliath that the devil throws at us to try and stop us? 
  4. What are some Goliaths that you are facing personally right now that you feel the devil is using to try and stop you? 

End: Pray for those who want to conquer the Goliaths that the devil has their lives to stop them, pray for any who need to accept Christ or rededicate their lives to Jesus, then take requests.
