“Conquering Goliath ”  Lesson # 6

    Don’t let Goliath come back! “  

Intro:   What is your favorite book of the bible and why? 

Study

  1. Romans 8:37, John 8:36 When we accept Christ we are born again, we are born into a life of salvation and victory found only in Jesus which allows us to conquer everything in our way. 
    1. 1 Samuel 17:48-50 There are many youth and young adults who have encounters with God at church, camps, and at cell groups and knock Goliath down in their lives. 
      1. 1 Cor 15:33  But many youth and young adults backslide, fall away from God, and let Goliath back in their lives when they are away from their Christan environment. 
      2. 1 Samuel 17:31 After David knocked Goliath down he went and cut off Goliaths head,  In order or us to truly defeat Goliath once and for all we must cut off his head, this means that we need to cut off every entry point in our lives that can influence us to fall into sin! 
    2. 1 Peter 5:8-9 The devil roams around looking for each persons weak spots and points of vulnerability he can attack to stop us from serving God and pull us away from our destiny. 
  2. James 4:7, 1 Cor 10:13 We need to learn how to shut the door on the devil once and for all and keep Goliath from coming back into our lives! 
    1. Proverbs 26:11 This means that we must choose to never go back to our old sin, our old relationships, or our former way of life.
      1. Eph 4:27 We need to make sure that we do not give the devil any footholds in our lives where Goliath can enter and create major problems for us. 
      2. 2 Samuel 11:1-4 We need to spend our time serving God keeping busy doing Gods work rather than allowing ourselves to be idle and falling into sin. 
    2. Psalms 20:6  In order for us to fulfill Gods purpose for our lives, we need to conquer Goliath once and for all and never let him return! Lets shut the door on the temptations of the devil, follow God with all our hearts, and conquer Goliath! #Borntoconquer!

  1. Why is it so important that we do not let Goliath back into our lives? What are some of the dangers of letting Goliath back into our lives? 
  2. What are some of the most common things that cause youth and young adults to backslide and fall away from God? 
  3. What are some steps we can take personally to make sure that Goliath never returns in our lives again? 
  4. Are you currently facing a Goliath in your life? If so what is it? What are some doors that you can shut on the devil to help defeat this Goliath that is in your life? 

 

End: Pray for those who want to conquer the Goliath that is trying to stop them, pray for any who need to accept Christ                          or rededicate their lives to Jesus, then take requests.
