Decisions #6

Decisions on what we do with our time

Intro: What do you enjoy doing when you have a free day?

Study

  1. Eph 5:16, Ps 90:12 Our time is a gift from God, and the decisions of what we do with our time have major effects on every area of our lives.
    1. Luke 15:13-15 Many people have problems in their lives because they do not make good decisions on what they do with their time.
      1. Prov 16:25 There are people who spend their time blatantly living in sin, doing that which is in direct rebellion against Gods standards and commands.
      2. Rev 3:16 There are others who appear like they are Christians, but spend their secret time in sin and compromise.
    2. 1 Thess 5:14,Prov 6:9-11 There are also many people who are idle, waisting their time doing nothing, or doing things that are pointless.
  2. Matt 25:15-25 God has given each of us our time, and he wants us to use our time to multiply his kingdom, winning others to Christ, and building his ministry.
    1. Matt 25:21 The main purpose of our lives is to use our time, talents and abilities to reach others, God is pleased with those who expand his kingdom on earth.
      1. Matt 25:26-30 When we waiste our lives being idle, doing nothing, and living in sin and compromise, God is not pleased.
      2. Ps 39:5, Deut 30:19 When we make good decisions with our time, choosing to serve God, we have good results, and our lives bear fruit, when we make bad decisions with our time choosing to be idle, and live in sin, we have bad results.
    2. James 4:14, Gal 6:7 We should invest our free time wisely, spending consistent regular time with God daily, and serving in the ministry in every way that we can.

Discussion

  1. What are some examples of things that many youth and young adults today waiste their time doing?
  2. How can we avoid the trap of waisting the time God has given us living in secret sin, and compromise?
  3. What are some things we can do to make sure we are active serving God in the ministry, rather than being idle and doing nothing?
  4. Is there anyone here tonight who feels God is speaking to you to make some changes in how you spend your time? What changes do you feel God telling you to make?

End: Pray for any who need to accept Christ or recommit their lives to Christ, and pray for any who need to make changes in how they spend their time, then take requests.
