We are all Leaders

Intro: Who is a leader that you really look up to and admire?

  1. 1 Tim 4:12-13,2 Tim 4:2 God has called all of us to be leaders, leadership is not reserved to pastors, missionaries and people who get paid to serve in full time ministry.
    1. 1 Cor 15:33 The truth is that every one of us are leading others, influencing other people, the question is are we leading them towards God or away from God.
      1. 2 Thess 3:11 There are many Christians who have a long list of reasons as to why leadership is someone elses job, and they just want to sit in a pew.
      2. Mt 28:18-20, Eph 4:11-12 The Great Commision isn’t reserved just for pastors, we are all called to evagelize and evangelism is leadership.
    2. Rom 10:14,Rom 12:6 All leadership in the kingdom of God should be to ultimalety win people to Christ, whatever gifts God has given you are for this purpose.
  2. Mk 13:10-11, 2 Tim 1:7 Christians usually struggle in one of two ways in becoming leaders, some people tend to be timid and reluctant, though God is calling them to lead.
    1. 1 Tim 5:22 Others tend to want major positions of leadership and authority quickly, but lack Godly character and humility.
      1. James 4:6, Zech 4:10 God will use spiritual authorities to speak to us about our pride, and lack of character, we must be willing to serve well in small things first.
      2. Jonah 1:1-3, Jer 3:21-22 The quickest way for us to backslide and fall away from God is to be doing nothing, or to disobey God and do something else.
    2. Jude 1:23 God has called each of us to lead as many people as we can to Christ, to be humble, but confident as leaders reaching this generation.

  1. What are some of the reasons many Christians give as to why evangelism, and leadership are for pastors and not for them personally?
  2. Have you ever been reluctant in responding when God has called you to serve as a leader? In what ways are you currently serving as a leader in your church?
  3. For any who have been reluctant, what are some ways that God has been calling you personally to step out in leadership in ministry within your church through Crossfire?
  4. Why do you think it is so easy to backslide when you are inactive, not evangelizing and not serving in the ministry?

End: Pray for any who have not been leading others towards God, pray for any who have not answered Gods call to be leaders, then pray for requests.
