Discovering your talents

Intro: What is something you enjoy doing for fun when its raining?

Study

  1. Romans 11:29 God has given everyone of us certain talents and natural abilities, these are given to us from birth, whether we become Christians or not.
    1. Joshua 24:15 God gives us the freedom to choose whether we will use our talents for God, for ourselves, or for the world.
      1. Gal 6:7 Those who use God given talents for fame, money, and living in sin, are abusing these gifts, and using they’re talents for the devil.
      2. Luke 19:15-24 Many other people don’t do anything, because they are afraid they will fail, make mistakes, or people won’t listen to them.
    2. 1 Cor 12:14-18, + 27 The talents that God has given each one of us are meant to be used as a perfect fit in serving in the body of Christ.
  2. Rom 12:6-8, Jude 1:23 Gods purpose for our talents is to win people to Christ, this is why we were born with the abilities that we have.
    1. Col 3:23-24, Isaiah 43:7 If you can preach, sing, dance, whatever you can do, God wants to use it to reach souls for Christ.
      1. Eph 2:10 The way we can discover what our talents are is to begin to step out, help, and serve in the ministry in whatever ways are needed.
      2. 1 Sam 16:11-13 Many times God will ask us to serve out of our comfort zone, in areas that are not our preference, so we can discover what Gods call is.
    2. Rom 12:1, Gal 2:20 God is calling this generation away from apathy, and compromise to become leaders who will use their talents and abilities for God.

  1. Can you think of someone who is very talented but who is not using their talents for God?
  2. What are some of your personal talents and abilities? how are you using them to reach others for Christ?
  3. What are some areas of need in your church or in Crossfire that you feel God is calling you to serve in?
  4. Who is someone who has inspired you because of their example in using their talents to do great things for God?
