“Dating Part 1”

Intro: When you get married one day, where would you like to go on your honeymoon?

Study

  1. Genesis 2:18-24 God saw Adams need for a wife, and promised Adam that he would send him someone perfect for him.
    1. Gen 2:18 God promised Adam he would send him his wife, but God did not tell Adam when or how his wife would come, God wanted Adam to be patient and wait on his will.
      1. Psalms 27:14 Many youth and young adults today do not want to wait on God to bring them the right person, they become impatient and enter into wrong relationships.
      2. Genesis 2:20 “No suitable helper was found” before God designed Eve there was no good selection for Adams wife, only cows, monkeys, goats and dogs.
    2. Matt 6:33 If Adam would have not waited on Gods will and timing he would have settled for a cow or a dog, and would have had many compatibility issues, communication issues, misunderstandings and abuse, because the dog was not Gods will for Adam .
  2. Prov 16:25 Those who don’t wait on Gods will or timing and settle for someone who is not Gods will end up with many needles problems and are like Adam settling for a dog.
    1. 1 Cor 15:33 There are many youth who settle for someone who is not serving God, and they end up influenced to do wrong, at times fall into sexual sin, and backslide.
      1. Eph 4:27 Many Christians start off on fire for God, wanting to serve God, but enter into wrong dating relationships because they don’t want to be alone, and fall away from God
      2. Gen 2:19-20 God promised Adam he would bring him a wife, but then he had Adam wait for his timing, and gave him work to do as he waited.
    2. S.S. 2:7, 3:5, 8:4 We need to be patient and wait on God and his timing for a husband or wife, spending this time serving God in the ministry rather than chasing boyfriends or girlfriends that are not Gods will for us, if we wait on God he will bless our lives in every way!

Discussion

  1. Why do you think that it is so difficult for many youth and young adults to wait on God for the right person in his perfect timing?
  2. What are some of the many problems that come from entering into wrong dating relationship or dating before you are 18?
  3. What are some of the reasons youth and young adults have such a hard time ending a dating relationship that they know is wrong?
  4. Does anyone here have a testimony of how God has blessed your life because you have chosen to wait on his perfect will?

End: Pray for all those who either are in dating relationships that aren’t of God, or those who are having a hard time waiting on Gods perfect will and timing, then take requests.
