“On Fire” Lesson #1

“ Remaining on fire for God “

Intro:  If you could have any job in the world, where would you work and why?

  1. Jer 1:5, Jer 29:11-13  It is Gods will that when we become Christians that we become strong in God, that we remain on-fire for God, and that we fulfill Gods call on our lives.
    1. Galatians 5:6-7 However, the devil will throw many things at us to try and pull us away from God, and from accomplishing His will here in this world.
      1. 1 Peter 5:8-9 Many youth and young adults start off on-fire for God, but fall away and backslide due to giving into temptation, and secret sins in their lives.
      2. 1 Cor 15:33 Others fall away from God because of the influences from wrong friendships and dating relationships in their lives.
    2. John 10:10, 2 Tim 4:18 When we remain on-fire for God and strong in our faith, God protects us from the devils attempts to harm us. However when we backslide and fall away from God we step out of Gods covering and open ourselves up to needless problems
  2. 1 Cor 10:13, 1 Peter 5:10 We must understand that although the devil will fight against us, God will always provide a way that we can be victorious and remain strong in our faith.
    1. 1 Cor 16:13 In order for us to remain consistently on-fire for God, we need to stand firm in our faith, and we need to keep our guard up against every attack the devil will throw at us.
      1. James 1:22  There are specific instructions that he Bible has given us that we need to put into practice in our lives if we want to remain on-fire for God and fulfill his call.
      2. Psalms 119:105 The word of God is our guide, our light, and holds the answers for every situation that we will face in this world.
    2. Isaiah 7:9, Mark 16:15 In this new series we will look at the different instructions that the Bible gives us in order for us to remain on-fire for God, so that we can accomplish Gods will for our lives, and so that we can #Reachtheworld!

  1. What are some of the many things that the devil will throw at you to try and pull you away from God and keep you from accomplishing Gods call on your life?
  2. Why do you think many youth and young adults have a difficult time remaining on-fire for God and struggle with backsliding?
  3. What do you believe are some of the steps we must do in our lives personally in order to avoid backsliding, remain on fire for God, and fulfill Gods call on our lives?
  4. Is there anyone here tonight who feels they have backslidden, and are not where then need to be with God? If so, are you ready to rededicate your life to Jesus tonight?

End: Pray for those who want to remain on-fire for God and who want to overcome everything the devil throws at them to try and stop them, pray for those who want to rededicate their lives to Christ,  then take requests.
