Study

  1. Jer 1:5, Jer 29:11-13  It is Gods will that when we become Christians that we become strong in God, that we remain on-fire for God, and that we fulfill Gods call on our lives.
    1. Galatians 5:6-7 However, the devil will throw many things at us to try and pull us away from God, and from accomplishing His will here in this world.
      1. Matt 13:3-8 Many youth and young adults start off on fire for God but they backslide  and fall away from God as soon as they face temptation, or difficulties.
      2. 1 Kings 18:20-21  Many of these youth are stuck in a cycle of being on-fire for God for a while, then they backslide and fall way from God, many feel that they can’t seem to break free from a cycle of backsliding.
    2. Gal 5:7-8  Often youth and young adults are pulled away from God due to wrong relationships, negative influences, peer pressure, or secret sin that is in their lives.
  2. Eph 4:27, 1 Peter 5:8-9 The Bible warns us against giving the devil a foothold, the devil is like a lion, when we let the devil in he will destroy our lives.
    1. Rom 8:37-39  If we truly want to remain on fire for God, fulfill his will for our lives, and live victorious then we must shut the door on the devil once and for all!
      1. Ps 119:9-11 1 Cor 10:13 The way that we shut the door on the devil is by cutting off every wrong relationship, bad influence, secret sin, and environment of temptation!
      2. 1 Cor 15:33, James 2:15 Others need to shut the door on the devil in their lives by getting rid of all negative influences, pornography, secular music, violent video games, wrong movies or anything else that pulls you away from God.
    2. Heb 3:13, Mark 16:15 We then need to surround ourselves with others who are on fire for God, we need to pray daily, read our Bibles, be active in the ministry, and in evangelizing   the lost around us so that we can fulfill Gods purpose for our lives and #Reachtheworld!

Discussion

  1. Why do you think many youth and young adults feel like they are in a cycle of backsliding, on-fire for God for a while, but then backslide and fall away from God?
  2. What are some of the things that can cause many youth and young adults to backslide and fall  away from God?
  3. What are some of the steps that we need to take personally to make sure that we avoid backsliding and remain strong in our faith and on-fire for God?
  4. Is there anyone here tonight who feels like you have backslidden? What has pulled you away from God? Are you ready to rededicate your life to God tonight?

End: Pray for those who feel like they are stuck in a cycle of being on-fire for God for a while, but then backslide, pray for those who want to rededicate their lives to Christ, and shut the door on the devil then  take requests.
