Study

  1. 1 John 5:14-15, Ps 88:13 God has called us to have strong prayer lives, consistent times when we pray alone, pray together, and pray for others.
    1. Rom 8:26 Many Christians struggle in prayer because they feel they don’t know how to pray.
      1. 1 Cor 12:4-6 Each of us has different giftings, and personalities, and we will each pray in our unique way, but we all must learn how to pray.
      2. Eph 6:18 God has called us to pray consistently over our list of people, situations, and requests, as we pray daily God will speak to us.
    2. Rom 8:26-27 The Holy Spirit promises to help us in Prayer, as we yield to the Holy Spirit, he will show us what to pray for, and how to pray.
  2. Mt 6:9-13, Luke 11:1-4 The Bible gives us a pattern of prayer, Jesus is giving us a guideline on how we should pray.
    1. Matt 6:9-10 We are directed to start Prayer by praising and thanking God, We are to then pray for Gods will to be revealed, in our lives and for others.
      1. Matt 6:11-12 We should Pray for Gods provision in our lives and for others, and we need to repent of our sins, and forgive others as well.
      2. Matt 6:13 We should pray that God will lead us away from sin and temptation, and that he will protect us from satan’s attacks.
    2. Matt 6:5-8, 1 Thess 5:17 God doesn’t expect us to pray perfectly, he is looking at our hearts and desires that we pray consistently.

  1. Have you ever felt like you did not know how to pray, or know what you should pray for?
  2. In what ways has the Holy Spirit helped you in prayer? Can you give a testimony of a time when the Holy Spirit showed you what to pray for?
  3. Why do you think its so important that we follow Christ’s guideline and pray daily for our list of people, situations, requests and for Gods provision?
  4. How can we develop a strong consistent daily life of personal prayer, praying together, and praying for others?
