Relationships Lesson #2

“ The influence of our relationships “

Intro:    What is one of your favorite activities you like to do with your Christian friends?

Study

  1. Mark 16:15, Matt 6:33 In order for us to have a strong walk with God as well as be as effective as possible in reaching the world, we must put God first in all of our relationships.
    1. 1 Cor 15:33 The Bible tells us that bad company will corrupt good character, so it is extremely important that we are very careful in our relationships.
      1. 2 Cor 6:14 As Christians we must not form close friendships or enter into any dating relationships with those who are weak in their faith or who are backslidden or unsaved.
      2. Gal 5:7-8 Many Christians are led into sin, and pulled away from God because of negative influences and bad relationships that they have in their lives.
    2. 1 Cor 5:11, 2 Cor 4:4 The Bible tells us that we need to separate ourselves from those who are blinded by sin, and who are not living for God.
  2. 2 Cor 6:17, Eph 4:27 We as Christians need to be willing to end every wrong relationship that is in our lives, so that we can remain strong in our personal walk with Christ and fulfill the purpose and call that God has for our lives.
    1. Heb 10:24-25 We need to build strong relationships with those God is calling us to be in relationship with, those who can encourage us to do what is right, and who can help us  discover and fulfill Gods purpose for our lives.
      1. Matt 28:18-20  Although we need to win as many unsaved people to Jesus as we possibly can, the unsaved are not to be our close friends.
      2. Prov 12:26 As Christians we must avoid every wrong relationship and negative influence that wants to pull us away from God.
    2. James 4:4 Gal 5:7-8 We need to avoid negative influences and bad relationships, and  build strong relationships with those who are on fire for God, so we can remain strong in our walk with God, and so that we can #Reachtheworld!

Discussion

  1. Can you share an example of a time when you were influenced to do something you knew was wrong by a relationship you had in your life?
  2. Why can it be so difficult for Christian youth and young adults to end a relationship that they know is wrong, and that is pulling them away from God?
  3. Share an example of a time when you were encouraged to do what was right by a strong Christian relationship in your life?
  4. Why is it absolutely essential for us as Christians to avoid wrong relationships, and to build strong Godly relationships in our lives?

End: Pray for those who want to end any wrong relationships in their lives. Pray for any who who want to accept Christ, then pray them through the sinners prayer, and take requests.
