Salvation

Intro: What are you looking forward to the most in this new year?

Study

  1. 1 Tim 2:4, 1 John 2:2 It is the message of Christianity that God wants everyone in the world to be saved.
    1. Rom 5:12 Most Christians understand that when we become Christians, we are saved, however many don’t understand what we are saved from.
      1. Ps 51:5, Gen 3:5-8 Because Adam and Eve sinned, we are all born sinners, and we are born on our way to hell.
      2. John 3:16, James 1:15 God knew that the unescapable price of sin was hell so because of his love, he sent his son Christ to die in our place.
    2. Acts 4:12 So when we as Christians say we are saved, this means that Jesus Christ saved us from the consequence of sin which is hell.
  2. Rom 10:9-10 God made it easy for us to escape hell, we are saved when we confess our sins, repent of our sins, and accept Christ as our Lord and Savior.
    1. 2 Thess 2:10, Prov 18:21 Those who refuse Christ also reject salvation from hell, the power of choosing life or death is in our hands.
      1. Eph 2:8-9 Salvation is a free gift from God, it cannot be earned, bought, or worked for, God alone gets the credit for saving humanity.
      2. Rom 6:23 When we share Christ with others, it is important that we don’t complicate, confuse, or dilute the message of salvation through Christ.
    2. 2 Cor 5:20 God is calling us to share this clear message of salvation with as many as we can, so that many more can be saved.

Discussion

  1. Why do you think many people don’t really understand what it means to be “Saved”?
  2. Why do you think it is so important that when we share Christ with others, that we make it clear why we need Christ, and what it means to be saved?
  3. Can you give some examples of how many people today complicate, confuse, and dilute the message of salvation through Jesus Christ?
  4. What do you think is the most effective way to communicate the message of salvation through Jesus Christ?

End: Pray for any who need to rededicate or accept Christ, and then take prayer requests.
