“Victorious!” Lesson #4

  “ Victorious over Temptation! “

Intro: When you get married how many children would you like to have and why?

Study

  1. 1 Cor 15:57, Psalms 108:13  God desires for everyone of us to be victorious in all areas of our lives and in the purpose that he has for us here in this world.
    1. Matt 26:14 One of the main things that prevents youth from being victorious in their personal lives is the struggle to stand against temptations!
      1. Gal 5:7-8 Many youth and young adults who are gifted, talented, called by God, and who start off on-fire for God end up falling into temptations and backsliding!
      2. 1 Cor 15:33 One of the main reasons many youth fail into temptation is because they allow themselves to be in situations that they should never be in and they get around people who influence them to do wrong.
    2. 1 Thess 5:17  Another reason many youth fall into temptation is because they are not strengthening themselves spiritually by maintaining set times of prayer and reading the bible.
  2. Matt 4:1-11, 1 Cor 1:13 Jesus faced temptation and was victorious over temptation! Because he was victorious over temptation, we too can be victorious over temptation!
    1. 1 Cor 11:1 The way we can be victorious over temptation is by following the example of Christ and doing exactly what Jesus did!
      1. Luke 5:16 Jesus prayed daily, read the word of God, and was busy spending his time doing the work of God, rather than waisting his time being lazy and doing nothing.
      2. 1 Thess 5:22  Jesus also set the perfect example for us by not putting himself in compromising positions, and by avoiding all appearances of evil.
    2. James 1:12  We too need to be faithful in praying, reading the bible, active serving in the ministry, and avoid giving the devil any foothold in our lives. If we choose to do these things imitating the example of Christ then we too will be victorious!!!! #Victorioso!!!!

       Discussion

  1. What are some of the many temptations that Christian youth and young adults face that try and pull them away from serving God?
  2. Who are some of the wrong people and what are some of the wrong situations that we should avoid that can lead us to fall into temptation?
  3. What are some of the things we can do to assure that we can be victorious over every temptation that the devil will throw at us?
  4. Is there a temptation you are currently facing in your life that is trying to pull you away from God? If so what is it? Are you ready to surrender it to God tonight?

End: Pray for those who want to become victorious over temptations, also pray for those who need to accept Jesus or rededicate their lives, then take requests.
